Our China Blue design is heavily inspired by the Willow pattern which is a distinctive and elaborate chinoiserie pattern, known as the “China” used on ceramic kitchen/housewares. According to Wikipedia, “it was developed by English ceramic artists combining and adapting motifs inspired by fashionable hand-painted blue-and-white wares imported from China”.
Beautiful Burns’ products and its emphasis on fashion drove us to adopt the design and create our own rendition – China Blue – to help highlight victorian arts. China Blue is one of the best-selling and most popular designs in our Beautiful Burns stack.
